Abstract. The aim of the research is to determine conditions to achieve the maximum amount of photosynthetically active components of solar optical radiation necessary for the normal development of vegetation on the Earth’s surface. The article analyzes the conditions for achieving the maximum amount of photosynthetically active solar optical radiation (PAR components) on the vegetation, taking into account absorption by atmospheric components. The problem of determining the conditions contributing to the appearance of extreme values of the photosynthetically active part of the solar optical radiation reaching the Earth’s surface has been formed and solved. It has been established that the minimum photosynthetically active optical radiation component of solar radiation on the Earth’s surface appears in the first months of the year (i.e., in winter), which shows a good consistency of such natural processes as the attenuation of the PAR component of solar radiation and the phenology of vegetation development.

Key words: photosynthetically active radiation, Earth’s vegetation surface, phenological development cycle, optimization, optical radiation absorption, atmospheric components.
